Local picture

Blacktown, by the numbers.

More than 50,000 people lived in the suburb of Blacktown at the 2021 Census. Here is what the Census says about care and health there.

50,961people lived in the suburb of Blacktown2021 Census count
3,886residents aged 15 and over gave unpaid care to someone with a disability, a health condition or due to old age9.4%, against 11.5% across NSW
3,082people reported a mental health condition, including depression or anxiety6.0%, against 8.0% across NSW

Behind those 3,886 carers are families doing much of the day-to-day work themselves. If that is you, support coordination can take some of the phone calls, provider searches and paperwork off your plate, and help you plan for the times you cannot be there.

Health and council

Hospital and council, close to home.

Blacktown Hospital

Blacktown Hospital is one of the major hospitals of the Western Sydney Local Health District, alongside Westmead, Auburn, Mount Druitt and Cumberland. If you are admitted, tell the staff you are an NDIS participant: the NDIA says that, with your consent, the hospital will let it know. That gives us time to line up what you need before you go home.

Blacktown City Council

Council's Disability Inclusion Action Plan sets out its commitment to fair and equal access to its facilities, programs, services and information. Council also has an Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee. The customer service centre is at 62 Flushcombe Road, Blacktown, phone 02 5300 6000.
