A psychosocial recovery coach is an NDIS-funded worker who helps people with psychosocial disability in their recovery journey: building capacity and resilience, finding, planning and organising supports, and connecting with community and mental health services. Centre of Hope delivers NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coaching for participants with mental health-related disability across Sydney and all of New South Wales. Recovery-oriented. Evidence-informed. Shaped by your goals, not a clinical script.
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is funded under support category 07 in Capacity Building, the same category as support coordination. The NDIS Pricing Schedule sets its price limits. Coaches combine NDIS coordination with recovery-oriented support tailored for psychosocial disability.

What a Psychosocial Recovery Coach actually does.
A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is more than a support coordinator with a different label. We bring lived-experience-informed knowledge of mental health, recovery principles, and the NDIS, woven together. You decide the pace and the priorities. We bring the structure, the connections, and the steady presence.
Recovery planning
Working with you to set recovery goals that reflect your priorities, your strengths, and your life.
Building your network
Connecting you with quality clinicians, peer supports, and community options across NSW.
NDIS coordination
Translating your NDIS plan, managing service agreements, and tracking your budget alongside the recovery work.
Linking with your clinical team
Coordinating with psychiatrists, psychologists, GPs, and community mental health teams.
Crisis planning
Building advance plans so you and your team know what to do when things get hard.
Life skills coaching
Practical support with daily routines, self-care, decision-making, and skill-building at your pace.
Housing & stability
Supporting you to maintain stable housing, work, and relationships through the ups and downs.
Advocacy
Standing alongside you in disputes, reviews, and decisions about your supports and your life.
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is for NDIS participants with mental health-related disability.
- People with psychosocial disability resulting from mental health conditions
- Participants who have a Psychosocial Recovery Coach line item in their NDIS plan
- People recovering from periods of acute mental health crisis
- Participants needing both NDIS coordination AND recovery-focused support together
- People wanting a single coach rather than separate clinicians and coordinators
Five steps. At your pace.
Recovery is not linear. Our process gives you structure without forcing the timeline.
Get to know you
A relaxed conversation. Your story, your history, what you're hoping for. No pressure, no clinical interrogation.
Recovery plan
Together we shape a recovery plan that reflects what you want, not what a textbook says you should want.
Build your team
We bring in clinicians, peer workers, support workers and community services around your plan.
Walk alongside
Regular sessions, between-session check-ins, crisis support when needed, advocacy when something isn't right.
Build your independence
Over time, you take more of the lead. We adjust, step back, and stay available when you need us.

What's the difference between a Recovery Coach and a Support Coordinator?
A Recovery Coach works on your recovery goals as well as your NDIS plan, and the role is designed for people with psychosocial disability. A Support Coordinator helps you understand and use your plan, choose providers and connect with services. Both are funded from Capacity Building, support category 07. We have a full comparison guide if you want the detail.
Do I need a mental health diagnosis to access Recovery Coaching?
You need a "psychosocial disability" recognised by the NDIS, which typically arises from a diagnosed mental health condition. The NDIA approves Recovery Coach funding based on the impact your psychosocial disability has on daily life, not the diagnosis itself.
How much does Recovery Coaching cost?
Nothing out of pocket if you have Recovery Coach funding in your NDIS plan. The NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 sets the most a provider can charge, with separate price limits for weekdays, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Can I have a Recovery Coach and a Support Coordinator?
Generally no. Coordination is part of the recovery coach role, so the NDIA says it will generally not fund both. It can fund both in limited circumstances, where there is an identified need and a clear plan to avoid duplication.
Do your coaches have lived experience of mental illness?
Our team includes coaches with lived experience and coaches with clinical or community-services backgrounds. We aim to match you with a coach whose approach fits your situation. You can ask for either, or both as part of your team.
Where do you provide Recovery Coaching?
We are a registered NDIS provider supporting participants across all of NSW. Sessions can happen at your home, in the community, or online depending on what works best for you and your wellbeing.
Your recovery, at your pace.
